Reasonable Cause Exams

A medical examination is strongly recommended with any reasonable-cause drug and alcohol testing. This examination evaluates an employee's fitness for duty and also can:

• identify a medical condition, such as diabetes or neuropathy, that may affect an employee's behavior
• evaluate an employee's ability to safely return to work on the day of the reasonable-cause examination
• provide the employee with an opportunity to speak with a health care provider about a possible substance abuse problem
